Hon. Mahindananda Aluthgamage,— To ask the Minister of Megapolis & Western Development,—
(a) Is he aware that—
(i) the Urban Development Authority carried out the Nawalapitiya City Development programme at a cost of Rs. 2,500 million;
(ii) the businesses that were run at various places in that city were gazetted and located under that programme;
(iii) the vegetable shops that were run at various places in the city were located in the public market; and
(iv) despite that the urban council has gazetted and approved the locations for shops, the present rule has accepted bribes from businessmen and has granted permission to sell vegetables and fruits in every place of the city?
(b) Will he inform this House whether action will be taken to stop this illegal activity?
(c) If not, why?
