The Finance and Supplies Department plays a key role in smooth functioning of Parliament. The Director Finance is the Head of the Department and as the Head of Department, he is on hand to advice and report directly to the Secretary General of Parliament on financial matters.
Finance and Supplies Department operates under three Divisions namely ‘Finance & Accounts’, ‘Supplies & Services’ and ‘Catering Accounts’ of which supervise by three Assistant Directors.
The main functions coming under the purview of the Director Finance is to fulfil the general responsibility as the Head of Department, and to provide comptrollership functions in order to ensure Finances are managed as in terms of the Public Finance Act, other legislations, public policies, procedures, Government Financial Regulations, Circulars and Instructions issued by the Government from time to time.
This includes –
a. Preparing the budget and execution of budget and reviewing financial status, preparing financial reports, implementing accounting systems, managing the payroll system and maintaining a sound internal control system.
b. Provide leadership and direction to the staff of the three sections, to ensure efficient use of human resources to fulfil all the functions of the Finance & Supplies Department.
