His Excellency the President by virtue of the powers vested in him by Article 70 of the Constitution and in pursuance of the provisions of Section 10 of the Parliamentary Elections Act, No.1 of 1981, dissolved the Parliament with effect from the midnight of 24th of September 2024 and summoned the new Parliament to meet on the 21st of November 2024.
In addition to this, the date for the Parliamentary General Election was fixed to 14.11.2024, and the nomination period was specified as 04.10.2024 to 11.10.2024.
