Hon. S. M. Marikkar,— To ask the Prime Minister and Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious & Cultural Affairs,—
(a) Is he aware that—
(i) the establishment of a cultural centre in the Kolonnawa Divisional Secretariat Division, with a view to bequeathing the youth and the children receiving school education in the Kolonnawa area, which is inhabited by multi-cultured and multi-religious people, to the society as a generation replete with religious and cultured values, is an essential and appropriate move;
(ii) the approval of the then Ministry of Higher Education and Cultural Affairs had been received to construct that cultural centre;
(iii) the allocations required for that purpose had been set apart; and
(iv) but, the project had not been moved forward?
(b) Will he inform this House of the future steps to be taken in relation to the construction of that cultural centre?
If not, why?
