Hon. J. C. Alawathuwala,— To ask the Minister of Plantation,—
(a) Will he admit that coconut cultivation is rapidly deteriorating?
(b) Will he inform this House whether steps will be taken to—
(i) provide a subsidy to coconut cultivators to cultivate coconut on new lands;
(ii) provide subsidies for burying coconut husks and digging trenches in existing coconut cultivations;
(iii) provide coconut fertilizer free of charge;
(iv) implement an accelerated programme to cultivate coconut on new lands;
to develop coconut cultivation?
(c) If not, why?
