       Hon. Weerasumana Weerasinghe,— To ask the Minister of Plantation,—

      (a) Will he inform this House—

      (i) the income earned by tea exports in  Sri Lanka  as a percentage of the total gross national product of Sri Lanka;

      (ii) as to how that income has fallen over the last two decades;

      (iii) the revenue expected to be generated from tea exports in 2021; and

      (iv) whether there is an increase in  income in comparison to the year 2020?

      (b) Will he also inform this House of—

      (i) the steps taken to protect  Sri Lanka’s share in the international tea market that is going to be lost  due to the invasion of the international tea market by countries such as  China and Kenya;

      (ii) the steps that have been taken to promote the “Ceylon Tea” brand; and

      (iii) the steps that have been taken to identify new international tea markets and to expand the existing markets for Sri Lanka’s tea?

      (c) If not, why?
