Hon. Gamini Waleboda,— To ask the Finance, Economic Stabilization and National Policies,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether he is aware that a substantial portion of the foreign exchange due for Sri Lanka for exported goods, is held overseas without being remitted to Sri Lanka;
(ii) whether steps have been taken to identify the amount of foreign exchange so held; and
(iii) if so, of the steps?
(b) Will he also inform this House—
(i) of the existing laws in Sri Lanka to prevent, detect and take action against the perpetrators of internal foreign exchange frauds; and
(ii) whether steps will be taken to make the necessary amendments to the Foreign Exchange Act in order to prevent the aforesaid exchange frauds?
(c) If not, why?
