Hon. (Mrs.) Rohini Kumari Wijerathna,—To ask the Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs,— (1)
(a) Will he inform this House —
(i) whether he is aware that an attack took place on the security personnel of the Sri Dalada Maligawa, where the Sacred Tooth Relic, which is the utmost treasure for Buddhists, is enshrined, on or around February 08, 1989;
(ii) if so, separately, of the details of the weapons seized, and the bodily injuries and other physical damages caused during the said incident;
(iii) whether it has been discovered through police investigations that the persons involved in the attack were affiliated with the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) or its armed wing, the Deshapremi Janatha Vyaparaya (Patriotic People’s Movement);
(iv) whether the persons involved in the attack have been arrested;
(v) of the legal actions that have been taken against them;
(vi) whether it has been discovered through investigations that the objective of the said attack was to seize or destroy the Sacred Tooth Relic; and
(vii) whether he will present the police reports and investigation reports relating to that incident?
(b) If not, why?
