Hon. Sivagnanam Shritharan,—To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation,— (1)
(a) Will he inform this House separately in relation to the Kilinochchi District of the —
(i) number of families permanently residing and the extent of land belonging to them;
(ii) number of families and individual residing and holding freehold land deeds;
(iii) number of families and individual residing and holding land permits;
(iv) number of families and individuals who are resident but possess neither freehold land deeds nor land permits until now; and
(v) extent of paddy lands and dry lands with permits?
(b) Will he also inform this House —
(i) of the reason for not hitherto granting freehold land deeds to persons who have lived in the Kilinochchi District for over 60 years; and
(ii) whether he is aware that they are not granted loan and mortgage services from banks and financial institutions due to lack of freehold deeds, depriving them of their economic development?
(c) If not, why?
