      Hon. Akila Viraj Kariyawasam,— To ask the Minister of Transport,—

      (a) Is he aware that Sri Lanka Railways has had to bear a huge loss, as the opportunity that had been available for it to transport 11 locomotive power sets and two luxury trains at low prices was given to a company in which the post of Deputy Chairman is held by the Secretary to the Ministry of Transport?

      (b) Will he state—

      (i) the loss caused to the Sri Lanka Railways by the deal to transport the power sets and luxury trains as aforesaid; and

      (ii) whether proper action will be taken against the officers who acted fraudulently to cause this loss?

      (c) If not, why?
