Hon. P. Harrison,— To ask the Minister of Finance and Planning,—
(a) Will he state—
(i) the number of licences that have been granted to sell liquor in Sri Lanka by now; and
(ii) the breakdown of the aforesaid number of licences as per sales outlets, hotels and other establishments?
(b) Will he also state—
(i) the number of new liquor licences granted in each year during the period from 1994 up to 2012; and
(ii) the number of new liquor licences granted to Food Cities, C.W.E sales outlets, hotels and other sales outlets during the period from 2005 up to 2012, separately?
(c) Will he inform this House—
(i) of the district wise breakdown of the number of liquor licences that have been granted by now;
(ii) of the revenue derived by the government from each district by granting the aforesaid licences; and
(iii) whether the granting of licences to sell foreign liquor has effected a decline in the consumption of illicit liquor in villages?
(d) If not, why?
