Hon. Ajith Mannapperuma,— To ask the Minister of Higher Education and Research,—
(a) Will he state—
(i) whether the Ministry of Higher Education has entered into agreements with any institution to construct 60 hostels for university students in the years 2013/2014;
(ii) if so, the institutions with which agreements have been entered into in relation to those constructions;
(iii) whether the accepted tender procedure was followed in selecting the construction institutions; and
(iv) if not, the factors that formed the basis for the selection of those institutions?
(b) Will he table—
(i) the number of hostels assigned to each of the above institutions for construction and the sum of money agreed upon in relation to those constructions, separately;
(ii) the dates, each agreed party is due to complete the construction of hostels;
(iii) the number of students that can be accommodated in each of the hostels so constructed; and
(iv) the sum of money spent by the Ministry of Higher Education on the construction of each such hostel?
(c) If not, why?
