Hon. Shantha Bandara,— To ask the Minister of Mass Media and Parliamentary Affairs,—
(a) Is he aware that—
(i) media freedom should prevail in a democratic country; and
(ii) journalists in this country are rendering an enormous service to the public?
(b) Will he state—
(i) whether there are journalists who have gone missing or gone abroad in the recent past due to pressure being exerted on them;
(ii) if so, the names of such journalists; and
(iii) whether measures have been taken to trace such journalists or bring them back to the country?
(c) If not, why?
