Hon. Indika Anuruddha Herath,— To ask the Minister of Social Empowerment and Welfare,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether the Kidney Patient Aid Programme which is in operation for the persons who suffer from kidney disease, which has become a social menace by now, is available in Gampaha district;
(ii) if so, the amount of money that has been allocated for it, for this year;
(iii) the number of patients to whom compensation has been provided by now; and
(iv) the number of patients for whom plans have been made to provide compensation in future?
(b) Will he also inform this House—
(i) if the programme mentioned in (a) (i) above is not in operation in Gampaha district at present, whether steps will be taken to implement it in Gampaha district in future;
(ii) if not, the reasons for it;
(iii) whether action will be taken to provide wide publicity for this programme through the Department of Social Services and educate people about this programme further as people in the relevant areas are not aware of this programme; and
(iv) if so, the manner in which it will be done?
(c) If not, why?
