Hon. Sunil Handunnetti,— To ask the Minister of Provincial Councils, Local Government and Sports,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether the causeway in Radapola. Paragasmankada, Wellavaya in the Moneragala district has been constructed by the Uva provincial council;
(ii) of the amount of money spent on the aforesaid causeway;
(iii) whether he is aware that a loss of Rs.1,874,952.44 has incurred as the aforesaid causeway got damaged prior to the lapse of even six months from its construction since it has not been constructed at the specific location;
(iv) whether disciplinary actions have been taken as per the recommendations of the Public Services Commission of the Uva Province against the relevant officers who have contributed to the aforesaid loss incurred by neglecting the duty and not following the instructions of Deputy Chief Secretary (Engineering Services) of the Uva Province and not acting in accordance with the estimates prepared;
(v) whether arrangements have been made to recover money from them; and
(vi) if so, of the measures taken with pertinence to the said matter?
(b) If not, why?
