Hon. Indika Anuruddha Herath, — To ask the Minister of Public Administration and Disaster Management,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether he is aware of the fact that making accurate predictions about the weather has become an issue to the Department of Meteorology due to technical equipment which are not sufficiently advanced;
(ii) whether the Department of Meteorology suffers a dearth of human resources; and
(iii) if so, of the details pertaining to this issue?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) if plans have been formulated to provide new equipment for the Department of Meteorology, of the names of such modern technical equipment;
(ii) of the purposes for which the aforementioned equipment shall be used;
(iii) of the amount of money that will be spent to purchase the aforesaid equipment;
(iv) of the methodology adopted to purchase the aforementioned modern technical equipment; and
(v) of the date on which modern technical equipment will be provided to the Department?
(c) If not, why?
