Hon. S. Shritharan,— To ask the Minister of Land and Parliamentary Reforms,—(1)
(a) Will he inform this House —
(i) whether he is aware of the number of families that reside permanently and the lands belonging to them in the;
(ii) of the number of families/ persons who possess freehold land titles for lands;
(iii) of the extent of dry land and paddy land with freehold land titles;
(iv) of the number of families/persons with land permits; and
(v) of the extent of dry land and paddy land with land permits;
in Kilinochchi district?
(b) Will he also inform this House —
(i) of the reasons for not providing freehold land titles to the people who have been living in Kilinochchi district for over 60 years;
(ii) whether he is aware that the people of Kilinochchi who were affected by the war, are unable to improve their economic standing by means of action such as mortgaging their lands and obtaining loans from banks or other financial institutions; and
(iii) of the number of families/ persons in Killinochchi district that do not possess freehold land titles or land permits up to now?
(c) If not, why?
