Hon. Thushara Indunil Amarasena,— To ask the Minister of Power, Energy and Business Development,—
(a) Is he aware that—
(i) a number of huge electric generators have been installed in the premises of the office of the Ceylon Electricity Board in Mallawapitiya, Kurunagala; and
(ii) the people in the vicinity have been highly inconvenienced by the loud noise emanating from these machines when they are functioning?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether an Environmental Impact Assessment report has been obtained to install these machines;
(ii) if so, the institution which carried out the aforesaid environmental assessment; and
(iii) the steps to be taken by the Ministry to solve this problem?
(c) If not, why?
