Hon Douglas Devananda,— To ask the Prime Minister and Minister of National Policies, Economic Affairs, Resettlement and Rehabilitation, Northern Province Development and Youth Affairs,—
(a) Is he aware that—
(i) 330 houses had been allocated by the then Ministry of Resettlements, Rehabilitation and Northern Development for the Settikulam Divisional Secretariat Division in the Vavuniya District;
(ii) 40 beneficiaries from the five villages, namely Neriyakulam, Illuppeikulam, Veppankulam, Alagapuri and Adampankulam belonging to Neriyakulam Grama Niladhari Division in Vavuniya had been selected accordingly; and
(iii) according to the present situation, only 150 houses have been allocated for the Settikulam Divisional Secretariat Division instead of the 330 houses that had been allocated earlier, and therefore, the 40 beneficiaries that had been selected from the Neriyakulam Grama Niladhari Division had lost houses?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) of the factors that hinder the provision of 330 houses for Settikulam Divisional Secretariat Division as it had been allocated earlier;
(ii) of the steps that can be taken to fulfill the housing requirement of the 40 persons that had been selected earlier from Neriyakulam Grama Niladhari Division; and
(iii) of the date on which houses will be allocated to them?
(c) If not, why?
