Hon. Bimal Rathnayake,— To ask the Prime Minister and Minister of National Policies, Economic Affairs, Resettlement & Rehabilitation, Northern Province Development and Youth Affairs,—
(a) Is he aware that—
(i) the Police Department maintained a fund called “ Sponsors fund”;
(ii) the fund was raised with the money drawn from the salaries of the employed officers; and
(iii) even though Mr. W.H.M Karunathilake Banda, a retired Police Inspector of No. 08, Galthenna Road, Ampitiya, Kandy who got his retirement 7 years back had submitted documents requesting the amount he is entitled from the fund, no payment has been made until now?
(b) Will he also inform this House—
(i) whether measures will be taken to refund Rs. 12,328/- that had been deducted from Mr. Karunathilaka Banda’s salary;
(ii) whether an interest will be paid on this amount that had been retained for number of years; and
(iii) if so, of the date on which the payment will be made?
If not, why?
