    1. 978/’19

      Hon. Ishak Rahuman,— To ask the Prime Minister and Minister of National Policies, Economic Affairs, Resettlement & Rehabilitation, Northern Province Development and Youth Affairs,—

      (a) Is he aware that—

      (i) the police station situated at Galewela town in Matale district belonging to the Central Province is housed in a building obtained on rent basis by the Police Department about 40 years ago;

      (ii) the said building is located on a land owned by a mosque named Masjidul Palah at Nabadagahawatta, Galewela;

      (iii) the land with this building is the only property belonging to the said mosque;

      (iv) though requests have been made from time to time by the Moulavis of the mosque from the Police Department seeking to reclaim the said property, such requests have not been acceded to; and

      (v) a one and a half acre land at Pathkolagolla Road in the Galewela town has been allocated as an alternative for the construction of the police station?

      (b) Will he inform this House—

      (i) as to why no action has been taken, despite a land being so allocated, to construct the police station on the said; and

      (ii) whether action will be taken to return the land and the building in which the police station is situated?

      (c) If not, why?
