591/2020 Hon. S. M. M. Muszhaaraff,— To ask the Minister of Education,— (a) Is he aware that the Pothuvil sub education zone is the only sub education zone in Sri Lanka? (b) Will he inform this House— (i) the reasons for not assigning administrative responsibilities to the two officers of the Sri Lanka Education Administrative Service who serve in that zonal office; (ii) whether disregarding officers in this manner can be accepted though the powers have been delegated to the said sub education zone formally; and (iii) since teachers of the Pothuvil Division have to visit the Akkaraipattu zonal office even for a minor issue due to this situation, the measures to be taken to address this problem? (c) Will he also inform this House— (i) whether steps will be taken to establish a separate education zone for the Pothuvil area by integrating all schools in Pothuvil; and (ii) if so, the date on which it will be established? (d) Is he aware that the Muslim schools have been separately integrated with the Akkaraipattu zone, Tamil Schools with Thirukkovil zone and Sinhala schools with the Ampara zone, though the objective of the government is to unite different ethic groups? (e) If not, why?
