Hon. Vadivel Suresh,— To ask the Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Policies & Plan Implementation,—
(a) Is he aware that—
(i) the approval was given in the year 2019 by the then Ministry of National Policies and Economic Affairs to construct 16 cultural centres covering areas associated with estates in Badulla district for the use of people living associated with estates for their religious, cultural, welfare and other activities and 100 million rupees was allocated for this purpose;
(ii) estimates were prepared for construction of 14 cultural centres out of the centers referred to above; and
(iii) the construction work of these cultural centres has, however, been stopped?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether the District Secretary, Badulla has been provided with 20.5 million rupees for the initial work of the construction of these cultural centres; and
(ii) whether allocations necessary for the construction of these 16 cultural centres will be provided?
(c) If not, why?
