Hon. Buddhika Pathirana,— To ask the Minister of Higher Education,—
(a) Is he aware that—
(i) the agreements reached with the firms which have been providing security services to the State Universities of Sri Lanka have been cancelled pre-maturely and obtaining their services have been stopped ; and
(ii) providing the aforesaid security services has been assigned to some other private security firms?
(b) Will he state—
(i) the names of the new firms which have been assigned with the task of providing security services to the universities ; and
(ii) separately, the names of the owners of each of the aforesaid firms?
(c) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether tenders were called when the aforesaid new firms were assigned with the task of providing security services ;
(ii) if so, the names of the institutions which submitted tenders ;
(iii) if tenders were not called the reasons for that ; and
(iv) of the minimum qualifications that the security offices serving in the university security services should possess and the privileges to which they are entitled?
(d) If not, why?
