Hon. Sajith Premadasa,— To ask the Minister of Child Development and Women’s Affairs,—
(a) Will he admit that—
(i) women and small children are employed as domestic aids, baby sitters and garden keepers through informal and irregular means at present; and
(ii) small children and women working in that manner are often subjected to various kinds of torture?
(b) Will he state—
(i) whether measures will be taken to establish an institution with a proper procedure for the registration of those who seek employment for the aforesaid jobs to eliminate the torture of children and women in the aforesaid manner and for the benefit of both the employees and employers; and
(ii) whether necessary steps will be taken to provide, only those who have been registered with an institution thus established with the jobs mentioned in a (i) above, in a proper manner?
(c) If not, why?
