Hon. Buddhika Pathirana,— To ask the Minister of Health,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether the government has conducted research to verify the prevalence of DCD melamine, synthetic lactose, pig oil, cattle oil and other hazardous chemicals harmful to human body in milk powder sold in Sri Lanka;
(ii) if so, what institution/s conduct/s such research;
(iii) whether he can table reports pertaining to the research conducted by such institution/s so far;
(iv) whether the institution/s concerned possess/es the facilities necessary to conduct such research in accordance with international standards; and
(v) if not, whether he will take action to provide such facilities?
(b) Will he also inform this House, the courses of action that have been taken against the organizations which produce the milk powder proved to contain the chemicals or substances referred to in (a)(i) above?
(c) If not, why?
