Hon. Jagath Kumara Sumithraarachchi,— To ask the Minister of Health,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) the number of hospitals in Sri Lanka under the Central Government and Provincial Councils separately as per the categorization of those hospitals;
(ii) the number of beds in the intensive care units and ordinary wards of those hospitals separately; and
(iii) the total number of doctors serving at the hospitals mentioned in (i) above and a breakdown of that number by specialist doctors and general medical practitioners?
(b) Will he also inform this House—
(i) the types of pharmaceuticals used in the hospitals of Sri Lanka by now;
(ii) the types of pharmaceuticals in short supply by now, out of the aforesaid types of pharmaceuticals; and
(iii) the amount spent by the government for each year to import the pharmaceuticals required by Sri Lanka, separately in rupees and US dollars?
(c) If not, why?
