Hon. Jagath Kumara Sumithraarachchi,— To ask the Minister of Public Security,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) the number of police officers who shirked their responsibility during the clashes that occurred in Sri Lanka on 09.05.2022, separately according to each rank;
(ii) the measures taken against those officers;
(iii) whether he admits that there were individuals who harassed some police officers including a Deputy Inspector General of Police and behaved in a provoking manner disrupting their performance of duties on the said date and within the months around the said time;
(iv) whether those persons have been identified by now; and
(v) if so, whether legal action has been taken against them?
(b) Will he also inform this House—
(i) whether he is aware of the fact that a Member of Parliament was assassinated amidst the clashes that occurred on 09.05.2022;
(ii) whether the persons involved in that assassination have been identified;
(iii) if so, the number of persons involved; and
(iv) whether legal action has been taken against them?
(c) If not, why?
