Hon. Premnath C. Dolawatte, Attorney at Law,— To ask the Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment,—
(a) Is he aware that—
(i) there are safe houses that are maintained by the Sri Lankan Embassies in the Middle East countries;
(ii) the space available in those safe houses is not sufficient; and
(iii) as a result, the housemaids who come to those safe houses seeking protection become helpless?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) separately, the number of Sri Lankan housemaids who are currently staying in each of the aforesaid safe houses; and
(ii) the steps that have been taken to bring those housemaids back to Sri Lanka?
(c) If not, why?
