Hon. Charles Nirmalanathan,— To ask the Minister of Tourism and Lands,—
(a) Is he aware that—
(i) there are large amount of State lands in the Pallamadu-Sannar area;
(ii) there has been a long-standing demand that the lands be distributed among the residents in the area;
(iii) the said lands are claimed by various persons by producing deeds without any document, plan or evidence; and
(iv) the Divisional Secretary has sent them to the Department of Land Title Settlement to verify the accuracy of the said deeds;
(b) Will he state—
(i) the extent of State lands available in the Divisional Secretariat of Manthei West, Mannar District;
(ii) whether the people of Sannar and Eichchalavakkai will be rendered the existing State lands in that area;
(iii) whether the deeds produced without a plan, document or evidence are valid to claim ownership of the said lands; and
(iv) the dates on which relevant decisions will be announced regarding the deeds sent to the Department of Land Title Settlement;
(c) If not, why?
