Hon. Sajith Premadasa,— To ask the Minister of Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities,—
(a) Is he aware that a pledge was made under the “සැමට නිවසක් - හිතට සෙවණක්” programme of Mahinda Chinthana - A vision for the future manifesto that an initial capital of Rs. 5 billion would be allocated by the forthcoming budget to construct 20 flats comprising of 40,000 housing units in Colombo and suburbs with a view to solving the housing problems of the slum dwellers in the Colombo city ?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) of the year in which Rs. 5 billion was allocated by the budget in accordance with the above pledge;
(ii) of the number of flats of which the construction work has been started by now using the above mentioned allocations;
(iii) the number of flats of which the construction work has been completed by now; and
(iv) the number of families that have been settled in the flats of which the construction work has been completed by now?
(c) If not, why?
