Hon. Sivagnanam Shritharan,— To ask the Minister of Education,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) the number of teachers who served as voluntary teachers and then appointed as teacher assistants in the government schools in the districts of Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu in the Northern Province;
(ii) the basis on which the aforesaid appointments have been given;
(iii) the date on which the aforesaid appointments have been given; and
(iv) the salary scale on which the said teacher assistants have been placed?
(b) Will he also inform this House—
(i) the date on which the above mentioned teacher assistants have been appointed to the grade 3 (I) (B) of the Teachers’ service;
(ii) the reasons for not including the period from 2013.07.01 to 2018.08.01, during which they served as voluntary teachers, to their service period when granting the appointments of teacher assistants; and
(iii) whether arrangements will be made to consider the date on which the teacher assistant appointments have been given, as their first date of appointment to the teachers’ service?
(c) If not, why?
