Hon. Vadivel Suresh,— To ask the Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs,—
(a) Is he aware that—
(i) Muthiyangana Rajamaha Viharaya, Mahiyangana Rajamaha Viharaya and Kataragama Devalaya are located in Uva Province; and
(ii) that many Rajamaha Vihara temples have been established in Uva province including Badulla district in order to create a society with religious and cultural values?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) of the number of RajamahaVihara temples in Badulla district;
(ii) of their names;
(iii) whether the aforesaid Rajamaha Vihara temples are being conserved in accordance with the related archaeological acts; and
(iv) of the steps hitherto taken to preserve the Rajamaha Viharas of Passara, Bogoda, Dowa, Muthiyangana and Mahiyangana and other Rajamaha Viharas?
(c) Will he also inform this House—
(i) whether measures have been taken to carry out the above conservation activities in accordance with the religious and cultural environment of the Buddhists while protecting the historical heritage; and
(ii) of the measures that will be taken to secure these historical religious heritages for the benefit of the future generation?
(d) If not, why?
