Hon. Ajith P. Perera,— To ask the Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education,— (1)
(a) Will she inform this House —
(i) whether she admits that Sri Lanka needs a new Constitution;
(ii) whether a pledge has been made through the policy document named ‘A Thriving Nation- A Beautiful Life’ that the executive presidency will be abolished and a new Constitution will be introduced expeditiously;
(iii) if so, of the timeline for introducing a new Constitution;
(iv) whether she admits that the process of drafting the new Constitution should be an all-party initiative involving all political parties represented in Parliament; and
(v) of the reason for not prioritizing the process of introducing a new Constitution at the national level?
(b) If not, why?
