Hon. Ravi Karunanayake,—To ask the Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education,— (2)
(a) Will she inform this House of the —
(i) number of national and provincial schools each district separately;
(ii) total number of teachers and principals serving in these schools;
(iii) total monthly and annual expenditure on salaries and emoluments for these teachers and principals separately; and
(iv) average monthly salary of a government teacher?
(b) Will she also inform this House—
(i) whether there is a shortage of teachers in government schools;
(ii) if so, of the timeline for filling these vacancies;
(iii) of the number of schools with less than 100 students; and
(iv) of the names of such schools, categorized by district?
(c) Will she further inform this House, separately of the —
(i) number of students admitted to Grade 1 in government schools over the past five years; and
(ii) projected number of Grade 1 admissions for the next five years?
(d) If not, why?
