Hon. (Mrs.) Chamindranee Kiriella, Attorney at Law,— To ask the Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development,— (1)
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) of the functions of the Department of Co-operative Development of the Central Government and the Departments of Co-operative Development of the Provincial Councils, separately, relating to the Co-operative Rural Banks;
(ii) whether he is aware that auditing of Co-operative Rural Banks rests with the departments concerned;
(iii) if so, of the number of Co-operative Rural Banks audited by the Department of Co-operative Development of the Central Government and of the Provincial Councils, separately, in each year from 2015 till now;
(iv) whether he is aware that the boards of directors of Co-operative Rural Banks have committed large-scale financial frauds since these Banks have not been audited properly; and
(v) if so, of the measures that will be taken to properly audit Co-operative Rural Banks annually to prevent such situation?
(b) If not, why?
