Hon. Ruwanthilaka Jayakody,—To ask the Minister of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government,— (1)
(a) Will he inform this House —
(i) whether he is aware that there is a shopping complex known as the ‘New Shopping Complex’ belonging to the Minuwangoda Urban Council situated in Minuwangoda town;
(ii) of the number of trade stalls (shops) available in the said Shopping Complex; and
(iii) separately, of the name and address of each person who has obtained the said stalls on lease basis and of the monthly or annual rent charged on each of the stalls concerned?
(b) Will he also inform this House —
(i) whether the persons who have obtained the stalls in the abovementioned Shopping Complex on lease basis have the legal right to sell, sub-lease, or transfer the ownership of the said stalls to another person;
(ii) whether the original lessees, who have obtained the said stalls by entering into lease agreements with the Minuwangoda Urban Council, are the ones currently conducting business in the stalls;
(iii) if not, whether he will submit a list of names of the persons who are currently conducting business activities in the said stalls; and
(iv) whether legal action has been taken against those persons?
(c) If not, why?
