Hon. Ruwanthilaka Jayakody,— To ask the Minister of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government,— (1)
(a) Is he aware that—
(i) when a private land is plotted and sold, a certain extent of that land should be handed over to the respective Pradeshiya Sabha for the purpose of being used as a common land;
(ii) the respective Pradeshiya Sabha should in turn allocate such common plots of land for the common needs of the residents; and
(iii) plots of common lands so allotted cannot be allocated for private use under any circumstances?
(b) Will he inform this House —
(i) of the number of such common plots of lands owned by the Minuwangoda Pradeshiya Sabha and the extent of each of those lands separately;
(ii) whether he is aware that common plots of lands owned by Minuwangoda Pradeshiya Sabha are being used by some individuals for private purposes at present;
(iii) whether he will present a list of names of such individuals;
(iv) of the legal actions that have been taken against them;
(v) whether a brother of a local politician has made unauthorized constructions and reclaimations on the common plot of land belonging to the ‘Amba Sevana Watta’ estate in the Nilpanagoda Grama Niladhari Division; and
(vi) if so, whether legal action has been taken against that person?
(c) If not, why?
