Hon. Rohitha Abeygunawardhana,— To ask the Minister of Health and Mass Media,— (1)
(a) Will he inform this House —
(i) whether medical officers, nurses, minor staff, and non-academic staff are available in adequate numbers at the Maternity and Children’s Hospital in Gallassa, Nagoda;
(ii) whether other infrastructure facilities needed to that hospitals have been provided;
(iii) whether the Children’s and Maternity clinics of the hospital are currently functioning;
(iv) whether laboratory technical facilities required for the said clinics have been made available;
(v) whether an adequate number of ambulances are available at that hospital;
(vi) of the number of drivers and assistants required for those ambulances, separately;
(vii) whether a sufficient number of drivers and assistants are available for the ambulances; and
(viii) if not, of the measures that have been taken to fill the vacancies in the posts mentioned above?
(b) Will he also inform this House —
(i) whether there are adequate medical laboratory technical facilities in the government hospitals in Sri Lanka;
(ii) whether those facilities are in a state that is usable;
(iii) of the medical equipment and machinery in short supply, for government hospitals; and
(iv) of the sections for which the said medical equipment and machinery are needed?
(c) If not, why?
