Hon. Chanaka Madugoda,— To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation,— (1)
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether he accepts that no action has been taken so far to grant freehold deeds under the ‘Urumaya’ programme in place of the land permits, land grants and deeds that have been handed over to the government by the respective landowners;
(ii) of the steps taken to establish the land entitlement of the individuals whose land permits, land grants and deeds have thus been handed over;
(iii) whether there is a specific time frame for completing the process of issuing freehold deeds in place of the land permits, land grants and deeds referred to above; and
(iv) of the way in which the individuals concerned can obtain information regarding the current status of the land permits, land grants and deeds that have been handed over to the government for the purpose of obtaining freehold deeds?
(b) If not, why?
