Hon. Ajantha Gammeddage,— To ask the Minister of Plantation and Community Infrastructure,— (1)
(a) Will he inform this House —
(i) of the extent of land granted to private plantation companies out of the state-owned lands in the Matara District;
(ii) of the name of each of the companies to which such lands were made available, the extent of lands given to each such company, and the crops grown on each of the lands, separately;
(iii) of the extent of land in which cultivation has been carried out of the lands given to the plantation companies referred to above;
(iv) of the names of the plantation companies which have not carried out cultivation activities on the lands given to them out of the plantation companies referred to above;
(v) whether plans have been made to take those lands back to the government; and
(vi) whether revenues accruable to the government have been recovered properly from the plantation companies concerned?
(b) If not, why?
