Hon. Dayasiri Jayasekara, Attorney at Law,— To ask the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism,— (1)
(a) Will he inform this House of the —
(i) number of Sri Lankan migrant workers who have migrated for employment since 2020 to date, the amount of foreign exchange remitted by them and the amount of that foreign exchange as a percentage of Sri Lanka’s Gross National Product, separately for each year;
(ii) countries which have a high demand for Sri Lankan workers for foreign employment;
(iii) government’s program to meet such demand;
(iv) number of Sri Lankan migrant workers who have been sent for employment in the countries referred to in (ii) above since 2020 to date, separately for each year;
(v) countries that have a labour market which accrue greater benefits to Sri Lankan migrant workers; and
(vi) steps that will be taken to send highly skilled Sri Lankan workers to the countries concerned?
(b) If not, why?
