Hon. E. Saravanapavan,— To ask the Minister of Rehabilitation and Prison Reforms,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) of the number of applications received by the Ministry of Rehabilitation and Prison Reforms with the recommendations of the Provincial Ministry of the North and East Provincial Council, when that Ministry took action to pay compensation for properties as per Public Administration Circular No.49/89;
(ii) whether all who submitted applications were paid compensation;
(iii) if not, of the number of applicants who were paid compensation; and
(iv) whether steps will be taken to pay compensation to the applicants who were not paid compensation ?
(b) Is he aware that a group of persons out of the people who had submitted applications as per Public Administration Circular No. 49/89 on the last occasion but not received compensation up to now and faced with difficulties, who have returned from the welfare camps and resettled in Kilinochchi and Mulativu areas ?
(c) Will he also inform this House whether measures will be taken to provide the compensation to the aforesaid people speedily and bring their lives back to normal ?
(d) If not, why?
