Hon. R. M. Ranjith Madduma Bandara,— To ask the Minister of Transport,—
(a) Is he aware that gratuity arrears were paid symbolically only to a small number of retired employees of the SLTB on the International Workers Day of May 01st 2012 by His Excellency the President ?
(b) Will he state—
(i) the number of employees who were paid the full gratuity payment; and
(ii) the number of employees who were paid only a portion of the gratuity payment;
out of the employees that retired from the service of the SLTB during the period from 1978-1991 ?
(c) Will he also state—
(i) the period that has lapsed by now since a judgment was passed to the effect that the gratuity arrears of the aforesaid SLTB employees should be paid expeditiously; and
(ii) whether steps will be taken to pay the retirement gratuity arrears of the retired employees of the SLTB expeditiously ?
(d) If not, why ?
