Hon. Wasantha Aluwihare,— To ask the Minister of Education,—
(a) Is he aware that—
(i) the Thibbatumulla Kanishta Vidyalaya in the Ukuwela Divisional Secretary Division in the Matale District has remained closed for several years;
(ii) neither the provincial government nor the central government has hitherto paid any attention as regards the school premises or the buildings; and
(iii) as a result, some people are encroaching upon the school land ?
(b) Will he state separately the extent of land, the number of buildings and other physical resources belonging to the said school which was started in 1975 ?
(c) Will he inform this House of —
(i) the date on which the Thibbatumulla Kanishta Vidyalaya was closed;
(ii) the number of students and the number of teachers served at the time of its closure; and
(iii) the reasons for the closure ?
(d) Will he also state whether action will be taken to develop and re-open this school which remained closed or to utilize the school premises and buildings for some other gainful purpose ?
(e) If not, why ?
