Hon. Anura Dissanayaka,— To ask the Minister of Education Services,—
(a) Will he state—
(i) the amount of school uniform material that was imported to Sri Lanka from China in the year 2012;
(ii) the amount of money that was spent on the aforesaid purpose;
(iii) the name of the company by which the aforesaid uniform material was imported; and
(iv) the basis on which the aforesaid uniform material was imported through that company?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) of the names of the companies which had submitted tenders for the supply of the uniform material for the year 2012 and the bids they had submitted;
(ii) whether the company that was selected was the one that had submitted the lowest bid;
(iii) if not, of the reasons for that;
(iv) of the defects contained in the material that had been submitted by the company which had submitted the lowest bid; and
(v) whether he admits that the material submitted by the selected company contained more defects than those mentioned above?
(c) If not, why?
