Hon Ajith Mannapperuma,— To ask the Minister of Internal Transport,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) the number of train accidents that occurred during the period from 30th April 2014 up to now, including those involving collision of trains, derailments and disconnected compartments;
(ii) the location, date and nature of the accident and the damages caused to the passengers, separately with respect to each accident;
(iii) the reasons for the occurrence of the said accidents, separately; and
(iv) the loss incurred as a result of these accidents, separately with respect to each accident?
(b) Will he state—
(i) whether plans have been formulated to prevent accidents of above mentioned manner and provide a trustworthy service to the public; and
(ii) what those plans are?
(c) If not, why?
