Hon Ajith Mannapperuma,— To ask the Minister of Finance,—
(a) Will he inform this House —
(i) whether action will be taken to pay the farmers' pension (which has been implemented with effect from 11.10.1995) to the spouse or the dependents of persons who had been receiving the pension at the time of their death with effect from 01.01.2014; and
(ii) if not, of the reasons for not doing so?
(b) Will he state —
(i) the persons who became eligible for the pension by paying a lump sum of Rs. 3,400/- at the age of twenty seven years in 1987; the persons who became eligible for the pension by paying a lump sum of Rs. 5,740/- at the age of forty five years in 2010; and the persons who have continued to pay a sum of Rs. 175/- as the bi-annual premium starting at the age of twenty seven years in 1987 are expected to pay an additional sum of money to be able to receive the pension as per the new scheme that was launched with effect from 01.01.2014; and
(ii) if so, separately the amount of money to be paid by the relevant individuals in terms of each of the aforesaid scenarios?
(c) If not, why?.
