      Hon.   (Al-Haj)  A. H. M. Azwer,— To ask the Minister of Minor Export Crop Promotion,—

      (a) Is he aware that—

      (i) nearly seven hundred families engaged in Cardamom cultivation in the Knuckles Forest Reserve have been evicted from the area;

      (ii) there is some connection between the ban of Cardamom cultivation imposed by the Department of Wildlife Conservation in the Knuckles Forest Reserve and the import of Cardamom in huge stocks from India; and

      (iii) the said Cardamom cultivation which has propped up economic wellbeing of over six hundred families for well over 75 years since the times of British rulers has been destroyed completely by now?

      (b) Will he inform this House whether action will be taken in respect of the aforesaid Cardamom cultivation and the wellbeing of those cultivators?

      If not, why?
