Hon. Palitha Thewarapperuma,— To ask the Prime Minister and Minister of Buddha Sasana and Religious Affairs,—
(a) Will he state—
(i) the current progress of the formal investigation carried out in relation to the uprising that occurred in Darga Town and Welipenna areas of Aluthgama on and around 15.06.2014 , if such investigation is carried out;
(ii) whether individuals responsible for initiating and promoting the above events and who engaged in attacks have been identified;
(iii) who they are; and
(iv) the legal action taken against them?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) of the number of houses, business premises and vehicles that have been damaged;
(ii) separately of the compensation paid and estimated to be paid in relation to that;
(iii) whether the affected houses and the business premises have been restored; and
(iv) of the said number?
(c) Will he also state in relation to the above incident—
(i) the number that died and sustained injuries;
(ii) the compensation paid for a death caused;
(iii) if not, the measures that have been taken;
(iv) whether the aforesaid compensation has been provided to the next of kin of the deceased person;
(v) the number Sinhalese and Muslim families that have been displaced;
(vi) the number of journalists who have been attacked during reporting on the spot; and
(vii) whether compensation will be paid for the media equipment that have been damaged?
(d) If not, why?
